Microwave resin polymerisation system and accessories

The Microwave resin polymerisation system and accessories is designed for resin polymerisation using the capsule holders in the PELCO BioWave Microwave Tissue Processor.

Microwave polymerisation system includes:

• Microwave tray, insulating pad and lid

During microwave-assisted resin polymerisation the system is placed on the stand on the PELCO ColdSpot Pro (E36116-PRO). The tray is filled with water to cover the capsule holders. The insulator pad is placed on the surface of the water and the lid placed on the tray. There are two holes in the lid so that the temperature probe can be inserted on either side to monitor heating rates. This new system controls the rate of heating and the temperature maximum (100°C) without the loss of water during the polymerisation process. Microwave wattage will control the heating rate which ensures a quality polymerisation each run.

The capsule preparation station is a capsule loading platform to maintain cleanliness from epon liquid spillovers from the capsule holder. This pre-loading station avoids a potential situation of water contamination in the microwave polymerisation procedure and allows the operator to pre-load 00 capsules for transfer.

The capsule holder has design features including "stops" on the legs to keep the capsule base level during loading, a hole with a stop in the base to allow the 00 embedding capsule to be set in place easily and a recess to keep the embedding capsule lid in place throughout the polymerisation process in the microwave
