Gel-Film features proprietary Gel-Pak elastomers without the constraint of a hard carrier.

DGL Film is a purified version of the PF “Free-Gel” film. The optically clear purified Free-Gel is laminated onto a flexible polyethylene backing with an easy to remove polycarbonate material used as the coversheet. For applications where a double-sided Gel material is required, DGL is typically the Gel-Film product of choice. The Free-Gel can be exposed up to 220°C for long duration.

DGL Film is used for a wide number of applications where either ultraclean or high temperature film or tapes are required, such as:

  • Vacuum coating processes
  • Scribe and break cover sheet
  • High temperature in-process handling
  • Temporary wafer bonding
  • Disk drive lapping

PF Film is similar to the WF product except the elastomer material is not bonded to its clear polyester substrate. This allows the elastomer material to be easily removed from the polyester backing, otherwise known as “Free-Gel”. The PF film is optically clear. The more commonly used version of “Free-Gel” is the purified silicone Gel version referred to as DGL Film.

PF Film is available in standard square and is typically used for unique process applications where a double-sided elastomer film material is required, such as:

  • Process handling fixtures requiring optically clear film
  • Finger print recognition
  • High temperature processes (up to 220°C) *Silicone Gel version only

WF Film also has a variety of uses where the elastomer surface is mounted directly to the device, such as:

  • Surface protection
  • Polishing optics
  • Scribe and break cover sheet
  • Flat panel display cover
  • Support for handling fragile wafers
  • Wafer backgrinding
  • High temperature processes (up to 150°C)

X4 retention level available. The optimum tack level for individual parts depends on material, size, weight and surface roughness. Unfortunately there is no exact formula to calculate the retention level but general guidelines are:

  • Medium retention level, X4 - for pre-polished and/or etched surfaces
